Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
If serving on the rocks, fill an old-fashioned glass with fresh ice (about 1/2 cup). If serving neat/up, chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer for a few minutes.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.5 oz añejo tequila, 0.5 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
- 3
Shake
Add about 1 cup of ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior shows light frost.
- 4
Strain & serve
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass: over fresh ice if using an old-fashioned glass, or neat into the chilled coupe. Use a fine mesh or Hawthorne plus julep strainer to remove small ice shards.
- 5
Garnish
Express a lime peel over the drink to release oils, then rub the peel on the glass rim and drop it or float a lime wheel in the drink. Serve immediately.
- 6
Toast/notes: The three tequilas (blanco, reposado, añejo) create layered agave and oak flavors — adjust agave syrup to taste if you prefer less sweetness. For a slightly more citrus-forward profile, increase lime juice to 1 oz.
