Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim of an old-fashioned glass and dip the rim into the coarse or smoked sea salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the reposado tequila, mezcal, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, agave nectar, orange liqueur, and angostura bitters.
- 3
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well-chilled (shaker should become frosty).
- 4
Strain
Place one large ice cube (or fresh ice) into the prepared glass. Double-strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and pulp for a smooth finish.
Garnish & Serve
- 5
Garnish with a thin grapefruit or lime wheel on the rim or floated on the surface. Optionally express a grapefruit peel over the drink to release oils before dropping it in.
- 6
Serve immediately. Estimated serving style: one classic lowball glass cocktail. Enjoy responsibly.
