Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Pueblo Viejo 104 Blanco tequila, 1 oz premium orange liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 tablespoon agave syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter margarita.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the ingredients are well combined and slightly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Double-strain (using a hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in the chilled glass if you prefer).

  5. 5

    Garnish

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

  6. 6

    Notes

Taste before serving; adjust sweetness with additional agave syrup to taste. For a frozen version, blend the measured ingredients with 1 to 1.5 cups of crushed ice until smooth.
