Main Ingredients

Method

Distillation Process

  1. 1

    Fermentation

Combine sugarcane juice or molasses with water in a fermentation vessel. Add yeast and allow the mixture to ferment for about 5 to 7 days at room temperature until bubbling stops.

  2. 2

    Distillation

Transfer the fermented mixture to a still. Heat the mixture to separate the alcohol from the remaining liquid. Collect the vapor and condense it back into liquid form. This process typically takes several hours.

  3. 3

    Filtration

Once distilled, filter the rum through activated charcoal to remove impurities and improve flavor.

  4. 4

    Aging (optional)

For a smoother flavor, transfer the rum into aging barrels and allow it to mature for at least a few months to a few years, depending on the desired taste.

  5. 5

    Bottling

Once aged, siphon the rum into clean bottles. Seal and label the bottles for storage or enjoyment.
