Churros

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Churro Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Incorporate Eggs

Once the dough has cooled, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Pipe the Churros

Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors to the desired length.

  5. 5

    Fry the Churros

Fry the churros until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.

  6. 6

    Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the fried churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.

  7. 7

    Make the Chocolate Sauce

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
