Cider & Additions

Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place the highball or pint glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water for 2–3 minutes to chill. Empty the glass just before assembling the drink.

  2. 2

If using ice, add 4 ice cubes to the chilled glass. For a slightly less diluted drink, skip the ice and serve the cider perfectly chilled (recommended).

Assemble Cider

  1. 3

Hold the chilled 16 oz bottle or can of Westering sparkling hard cider upright and gently open. Pour the cider slowly down the side of the glass to preserve sparkle and reduce foaming. Fill to approximately 1/2 inch (1 cm) from the rim.

  2. 4

If using bitters, add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of the cider and allow them to settle for a few seconds. This adds spice complexity but is entirely optional.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 5

Thread the lemon wheel onto the cocktail pick and rest it on the rim of the glass or float it on top of the cider.

  2. 6

Gently slap the mint sprig between your palms to release aromatics and place it upright in the glass or tuck it behind the lemon wheel for aroma as you sip.

  3. 7

Serve immediately while cold and sparkling. Encourage sipping slowly to enjoy the sparkling profile and aromatic garnish.
