Prime Ribeye

Method

Cooking the Ribeye

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the prime ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking. This ensures even cooking throughout the steak.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with kosher salt and black pepper, pressing the seasoning into the meat to ensure it adheres well.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the seasoned ribeye steak in the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a brown crust forms. Flip the steak and sear the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes on a cutting board. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
