Method
Cocktail
- 1
Muddle
Place 6 fresh blackberries into a cocktail shaker. Add the lime cordial and simple syrup. Gently muddle the blackberries just enough to break the skins and release juice and oils—about 6–8 gentle presses. Avoid over-muddling to prevent bitter seeds from breaking.
- 2
Build
Add 2 oz Queen Empress Gin, 0.5 oz crème de mûre, and the optional 0.5 egg white to the shaker with the muddled berries and syrups.
- 3
- 4
Wet Shake
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker and shake hard for 10–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker becomes very cold (shake until well chilled and diluted).
- 5
Double Strain
Strain the cocktail through a fine-mesh strainer (or a hawthorne plus fine strainer) into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove seeds and pulp for a smooth drink.
Garnish & Finish
- 6
Float 1 small drizzle (about 1–2 bar spoons) of crème de mûre on top of the foam or surface to intensify the blackberry aroma and create a pretty sheen.
- 7
Garnish with one whole blackberry skewered on a pick and a lime wheel on the rim. Add a sprig of mint if desired for an aromatic lift.
- 8
Serve immediately while cold. Encourage guests to break the foam with the berry garnish and enjoy the layered blackberry notes.
