Preparation of Burger Patty

Prepare the Black Beans
Drain and rinse the canned black beans. In a mixing bowl, mash them with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Combine Ingredients
Add cooked quinoa, rolled oats, grated carrot, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and olive oil to the mashed black beans. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Add Flour
Gradually add flour to the mixture until it holds together but is not overly sticky. If the mixture is too wet, add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.

Shape the Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook the Patties
Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.

Toast the whole grain burger buns lightly in a toaster or on the grill.
