Vegetables and Pita

Method

Prepare Gyro Meat

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, ground beef, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, ground cumin, and paprika.

  2. 2

    Shape and Chill

Drizzle olive oil over the meat mixture and mix until well combined. Shape the mixture into a loaf or patty and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meat

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the meat for approximately 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Make Gyro Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, dill, and salt until smooth.

  2. 5

    Chill Sauce

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Assemble Gyro

  1. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion and dice the tomato.

  2. 7

    Warm Pita Bread

Heat the pita bread on a skillet or grill for about 1-2 minutes until warm and pliable.

  3. 8

    Wrap It Up

Slice the cooked gyro meat and place it on the warm pita. Top with sliced onions, diced tomatoes, and a generous drizzle of the gyro sauce. Wrap the pita around the filling.
