Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the hot dogs

Grill, boil, or pan-fry the hot dog sausages until heated through and slightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare Coney sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add the remaining sauce ingredients

Stir in the tomato sauce, water, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Coney Dogs

Place each hot dog sausage into a bun. Generously spoon coney sauce over each hot dog.

  2. 5

    Add toppings

Drizzle yellow mustard over the sauce and sprinkle chopped onions on top.
