Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mixing Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

  2. 2

    Forming Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Grilling or Pan-Frying

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  2. 4

    Adding Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Preparing the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them if desired.

  2. 6

    Layering the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cheesy patty, tomato slices, pickles, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serving

  1. 7

    Enjoying the Cheeseburger

Serve the cheeseburgers while hot with your favorite sides like fries or a salad.
