Method

Tuna Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Drain and Flake Tuna

Open the canned tuna and drain the water. In a mixing bowl, flake the tuna with a fork until it's broken into smaller pieces.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to the flaked tuna. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. 3

    Chill the Salad

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the tuna salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Take 2 slices of whole grain bread and lay them on a clean cutting board or plate.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

Place a slice of provolone cheese on each slice of bread.

  3. 6

    Layer the Tuna Salad

Scoop a generous amount of the chilled tuna salad and spread it evenly on top of the provolone cheese on both slices.

  4. 7

    Add Vegetables

Top the tuna salad with lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, and red onion rings.

  5. 8

    Complete the Sandwich

Finish by placing the remaining slices of bread on top of each sandwich. Press down gently.

  6. 9

    Serve

Cut the sandwiches in half if desired and serve immediately with chips or a pickle on the side.
