Preparation of Teriyaki Sauce

Make the Teriyaki Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.

Simmer the Sauce
Once the mixture is simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Salmon
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Rinse the Rice
Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
Serving

Plate the Dish
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve it on plates. Place the grilled salmon on top of the rice and drizzle with extra teriyaki sauce if desired.

Garnish
Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top of the salmon for garnish. Serve immediately.
