Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marionberries

Rinse the marionberries thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or residues. Set aside to dry.

  2. 2

    Make the Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine equal parts of sugar and water (1 cup each) over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool. You can prepare this ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.

  3. 3

    Juicing the Lemons

Cut the lemons in half and use a juicer to extract the juice. Measure out 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and set aside.

  4. 4

    Muddle the Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker or a sturdy glass, add the fresh marionberries and mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the berries and mint together, releasing their juices and oils.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup to the muddled mixture. Stir gently to combine.

  6. 6

    Mix with Soda Water

Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the muddled mixture over the ice. Top it off with soda water and stir gently to mix everything together.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with a few whole marionberries and a sprig of mint on top. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Dhōs Bittersweet!
