Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it's hot enough to create the molten center.
- 2
Prepare Ramekins
Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Place them on a baking sheet for easy handling.
Making the Cake
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring gently until combined.
- 6
Add Flour and Salt
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add a pinch of salt. Fold gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.
Baking
- 8
Bake the Cakes
Place the baking sheet with the filled ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will remain soft.
- 9
Cool Slightly
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes. This will help the cakes set slightly for easier removal.
