For the Juice (choose apple or orange)

Optional garnish and adjustments

Method

If making Apple Juice

1

Prepare fruit

Wash the apples thoroughly. Core and roughly chop 6 apples into pieces that fit your juicer or blender. If using a blender, you may peel first if you prefer a less bitter taste, but peel is optional.

2

Juice or blend

If using a juicer: feed apple pieces through the juicer and collect juice in a pitcher. If using a blender: place apple pieces and 1 cup cold water into the blender and blend on high until smooth, about 45–60 seconds.

3

Strain (blender method only)

If you used a blender and want clear juice, pour the blended apple puree through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, using the back of a spoon to press out as much liquid as possible. Discard or save pulp for smoothies or baking.

4

Sweeten and finish

Stir in 2 tsp sugar or simple syrup, 1 tsp fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt into the collected juice. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed. Chill briefly or add ice cubes to cool.

5

Serve

Pour into glasses over ice. Garnish with mint leaves if desired. For a lighter spritz, top each glass with a splash of carbonated water (about 1/4 cup per serving).

If making Orange Juice

6

Prepare fruit

Wash the oranges. Peel if using a blender; if using a juicer, halving is sufficient. For 6 medium oranges, cut in half crosswise if using a handheld or electric juicer, or segment and remove seeds if using a blender.

7

Juice or blend

If using a juicer: juice the orange halves into a pitcher, discarding rinds. If using a blender: place peeled orange segments and 1/4 cup of the cold water into the blender and blend briefly until smooth, about 20–30 seconds.

8

Strain (blender method only, optional)

For pulpy juice you can skip straining. For smoother juice, strain the blended orange through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a pitcher, pressing to extract liquid and leaving pulp behind.

9

Sweeten and finish

Stir in 1–2 tsp sugar or simple syrup only if the oranges are not sweet enough, plus 1 tsp fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt to brighten flavor. Add ice cubes to chill.

10

Serve

Pour into glasses over ice. Garnish with a mint sprig or a thin orange wheel. For a fizzy option, top with carbonated water (about 1/4 cup per serving).
