Method

For the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Rub each steak with olive oil, then season generously with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Place a sprig of fresh rosemary on top of each steak.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, about 450-500°F (230-260°C).

  4. 4

    Grill the Steaks

Place the seasoned steaks on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

For the Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 7

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

  3. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 9

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry for about 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 10

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste. Repeat the frying process with the remaining potato strips.
