Preparation of Smash Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and set aside.
Cooking the Beef Patties

Divide the ground beef into 2 equal portions (about 8 ounces each) and shape them into loose balls without compressing too much.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned. Flip the patty and place a slice of American cheese on top. Cook for an additional minute until the cheese is melted.

Repeat with the second beef ball, smashing and cooking as before.
Grilling the Onions

Spread the prepared smash sauce on the bottom half of each bun.

Place the first cheese-topped smash patty on the sauce-covered bun, followed by half of the grilled onions.

Add pickles on top of the onions and then place the second smash patty on top.

Top with the remaining grilled onions and cover with the top half of the bun.
