Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Eggs and Sugar

In a separate large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, stirring continuously to avoid cooking the eggs.

  4. 4

    Add Vanilla and Dry Ingredients

Stir in the vanilla extract. Sift the all-purpose flour and salt over the mixture and fold gently until just combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Soufflé Cake

Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is set and slightly cracked but the center remains soft. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a plate.

Serving Instructions

  1. 6

    Prepare to Serve

Once the soufflé cake is cooled, slice it into wedges. Serve each slice warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

  2. 7

    Add Fresh Berries

Top each serving with a generous handful of fresh berries for added flavor and presentation.
