Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Ingredients
Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake Cookies
Drop tablespoon-sized balls of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Assembling the Sundae

Layer Ingredients
In a serving bowl or dessert glass, start by placing a layer of chocolate chip cookies at the bottom.

Add Ice Cream
Scoop 1 cup of chocolate chip ice cream over the cookies.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of cookies followed by another scoop of ice cream. Repeat until all ingredients are used, making sure to finish with a layer of ice cream.

Top with Sauce and Cream
Drizzle chocolate sauce over the top and add a generous dollop of whipped cream.

Garnish (Optional)
If desired, sprinkle chocolate shavings on top of the whipped cream.
