Beef Stroganoff

Buttered Basmati Rice

Method

Beef Stroganoff

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Season the beef sirloin with salt and black pepper. Cut into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Sear the Beef

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and sear until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook Mushrooms

Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are browned and tender, about 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Stock and Herbs

Pour in veal stock and add fresh thyme. Bring to a simmer.

  6. 6

    Combine Beef and Sauce

Return the seared beef to the skillet. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

  7. 7

    Finish with Sour Cream

Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until well combined. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

  8. 8

    Garnish

Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Buttered Basmati Rice

  1. 9

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.

  2. 10

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the rinsed rice and salt. Stir once, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender.

  3. 11

    Fluff and Add Butter

Remove the rice from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir in butter.
