Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Clean the Squid

Rinse the whole squid under cold water. Remove the innards and beak, and clean the tentacles. Pat dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Grill the Squid

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush the squid with a little oil and season with salt. Place the squid on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the squid is opaque and has grill marks.

  4. 4

    Serve

Remove the squid from the grill and slice into rings if desired. Drizzle the teriyaki sauce over the squid and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
