Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Linguine
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Seafood Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Seafood
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to turn pink.
- 3
Add Mussels and Scallops
Add the mussels and scallops to the skillet. If using white wine, pour it in now. If using marinara sauce, wait to add it after the seafood has cooked. Cover the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until mussels are opened and scallops are opaque.
Sauce Preparation
- 4
Make the Sauce
For the white sauce, once the seafood is cooked, reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. For the red sauce, stir in the marinara sauce directly and simmer for a few minutes.
- 5
Finish the Dish
Once the sauce is heated through, add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss everything together. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
