Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- 2
Bread the Chicken
Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to ensure a good coating.
- 3
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a baking dish.
Sauce Preparation
- 4
Make the Marinara Sauce
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the marinara sauce, then add dried oregano and basil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- 5
Combine Chicken and Sauce
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the cooked chicken breasts in the baking dish.
Final Assembly and Baking
- 6
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken and sauce. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Pasta Cooking
- 7
Cook the Spaghetti
While the chicken is baking, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, then add the spaghetti. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Serving
- 8
Serve the Dish
Plate the spaghetti and top with the chicken Parmesan. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot.
