Cocktail
Garnish & Glass
Method
Prepare glass
Rim the glass (optional)
If you want a salted rim, rub the lime wedge around the outer edge of a rocks or coupe glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt or Tajín to coat. Set glass aside.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 6 cubes). Add 2 oz 1800 tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup (if you prefer slightly sweeter).
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Strain
Double-strain (using the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared glass over fresh ice, or serve up (without ice) in the chilled glass per your preference.
Float the Grand Marnier
Using the back of a bar spoon, slowly pour 0.25 oz Grand Marnier over the back of the spoon held just above the surface of the drink so the liqueur floats on top as a distinct layer.
Finish & serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately and instruct the drinker to stir the float into the cocktail as they prefer.
