Method

Prepare Glasses (optional)

  1. 1

    Sugar rim

If desired, place the 1/2 cup sugar on a small plate. Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of 4 serving glasses, then dip the rims into the sugar to coat. Set glasses in the freezer to chill while you prepare the slush.

Make Frozen Lemonade

  1. 2

In a high-powered blender combine 8 oz Wheatley vodka, 3 oz Paula's Texas Lemon, and 24 oz fresh lemonade.

  2. 3

Add 6 cups of ice to the blender. If you prefer a stronger lemon flavor, add 1–2 additional lemon wedges (no seeds) or 0.5–1 oz additional lemon liqueur; if you prefer slightly sweeter, add 0.5 oz simple syrup.

  3. 4

Pulse on low twice to break up the ice, then blend on high for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and slushy. If the mixture is too thin, add 1 cup more ice and blend again for 15–20 seconds. If too thick, add 1–2 oz chilled lemonade and briefly re-blend.

  4. 5

Taste and adjust: check sweetness and strength; add small increments of lemonade for dilution, sugar/simple syrup for sweetness, or 0.5 oz vodka for more kick. Blend briefly to incorporate any additions.

Serve & Garnish

  1. 6

Remove chilled glasses from the freezer. Pour or spoon the frozen lemonade evenly into 4 prepared glasses.

  2. 7

Garnish each glass with 3 mint leaves (slap the leaves between your palms briefly to release aroma) and a lemon wedge on the rim.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a straw or short spoon. Advise guests to sip quickly — the slush will slowly melt into a very boozy lemonade.
