Baking Instructions
- 1
Prepare Yeast Mixture
In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and Italian herbs.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape and Add Cheese
Once risen, punch down the dough, then fold in the grated Parmesan cheese. Shape into a loaf or place in a bread pan.
- 7
Second Rise
Cover the shaped dough and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- 8
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Bake the Bread
Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven, let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
