Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the meat mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Cook the meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the onions and garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 5

    Add tomatoes and seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 6

    Add fresh basil

Stir in chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine meatballs and sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves, if desired.
