Preparation of Topping

Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the fresh tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a medium mixing bowl.

Add Basil
Chop the fresh basil leaves finely and add them to the bowl with tomatoes.

Prepare the Dressing
Mince the garlic cloves and add to the bowl. Drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
Prepare the Bread

Slice the Baguette
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the French baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and drizzle lightly with olive oil. Toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the bread is golden and crispy.
Assembly

Top the Bread
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture generously onto each slice.

Serve
Serve immediately while the bread is still warm. Optionally, drizzle with a little extra olive oil or balsamic vinegar before serving.
