Base Milkshake

Method

Base Milkshake

1

Chill glass

Place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill while you prepare the shake. This keeps the shake cold longer.

2

Scoop 3 cups of your chosen ice cream into a blender. If using a very hard ice cream, let it sit 2–3 minutes at room temperature to soften slightly for easier blending.

3

Add 1 cup whole milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to the blender. Add 1 teaspoon sugar only if you prefer a sweeter shake.

4

Secure lid and pulse 4–6 times to combine, then blend on medium speed about 10–15 seconds until smooth but still thick. Do not over-blend or the shake will become too thin.

Flavor Add-ins (choose 1–2)

5

For chocolate: add 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup to the blender with the base and blend 3–5 seconds to swirl evenly.

6

For strawberry: if using jam, add 1/2 cup jam directly and blend until incorporated. If using fresh strawberries, roughly chop and blitz with the base until smooth (10–15 seconds).

7

For caramel: add 2 tablespoons caramel sauce and blend 3–5 seconds to mix.

8

For peanut butter: add 2 tablespoons peanut butter and blend 5–8 seconds until fully incorporated and smooth.

9

For cookies: add 4 crushed cookies to the blender and pulse 2–3 times for chunky texture or blend longer for a smoother cookie shake.

Spiking (optional)

10

If spiking, add your chosen spirit(s) now. Pour 1 ounce of bourbon, vodka, or coffee liqueur into the blender with the base and flavor add-ins. Blend for 2–3 seconds to mix. Do not exceed 1–2 ounces per serving to maintain texture and balance.

11

Taste carefully (remember it contains alcohol). Adjust sweetness or flavor by adding a small additional splash of milk or sauce if needed, then pulse once to combine.

Assembly & Toppings

12

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer. For an extra touch, drizzle 1 tablespoon of chocolate or caramel sauce inside the glass before pouring the shake.

13

Pour the milkshake into the prepared glass, leaving about 1/2 inch at the top for toppings.

14

Top with 1/2 cup whipped cream, sprinkle 1 tablespoon chocolate shavings or sprinkles, and place 1 maraschino cherry on top.

15

Serve immediately with a straw and long spoon. If the shake is too thick, serve with an extra small pitcher of milk on the side to thin to taste.
