Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck and brisket. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

In the last few minutes of cooking, melt butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Add the burger buns, cut side down, and toast until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, followed by the cooked patty. Add a slice of tomato and cheese if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides.
