Prepare the Brisket
Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch for flavor.

Make the Rub
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and brown sugar.

Season the Brisket
Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, making sure to coat it evenly.

Add Liquid Smoke
Drizzle the liquid smoke over the brisket and rub it in.

Preheat Smoker
Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

Smoke the Brisket
Place the brisket in the smoker, fat side up, and smoke for approximately 1.5 hours per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

Rest the Brisket
Once done, remove the brisket from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Serve
Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with BBQ sauce on the side.
