Fried Pickles

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels. This will help them stay crispy.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Dip in Buttermilk

Place the buttermilk in a separate bowl. Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off.

  4. 4

    Coat the Pickles

Then, dredge the pickle slices in the flour mixture until they are fully coated.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the coated pickles to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with ranch dressing.
