Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Trim excess fat off the pork shoulder and cut into large chunks.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

In a large bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the pork chunks.

  3. 3

    Sear the Pork

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned pork pieces and sear on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Pork

Transfer the seared pork to a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily.

  5. 5

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the cooker to soak up the juices for an additional 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve

Spoon the chopped pork onto buns or serve with your favorite sides.
