1. Prepare the Oven

2. Cook the Broccoli
In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
3. Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the blanched broccoli until well coated.
4. Prepare the Casserole
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
