Cocktail Preparation

Prepare the Glass
Take an old fashioned glass and place it in the freezer for a few minutes to chill.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine the whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.

Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes and stir the mixture for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Remove the chilled old fashioned glass from the freezer and strain the mixture into the glass over fresh ice.

Garnish the Cocktail
Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Then, drop the peel into the glass along with the maraschino cherry.
