Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Making the Cake Batter
- 3
Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and bittersweet chocolate. Melt them together until smooth, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 5
- 6
Add Flour and Salt
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add a pinch of salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Baking and Serving
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake the Cakes
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to release. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
