Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the hanger steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to high heat or heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Make sure it's hot before adding the steak.

  2. 4

    Remove and Pat Dry

Take the marinated steak out of the refrigerator, remove from the marinade, and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess marinade.

  3. 5

    Cook the Steak

Place the hanger steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Garnish

Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
