Method

For the Hanger Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the hanger steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill to high heat. When hot, place the steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, depending on the thickness.

  4. 4

    Add Garlic

During the last minute of grilling, add whole garlic cloves to the grill to infuse flavor.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and cover it loosely with foil. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

For the Garlic Butter

  1. 6

    Prepare Garlic Butter

While the steak is resting, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and a pinch of salt, and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 7

    Add Parsley

Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley. Set aside to keep warm.

For the Truffle Fries

  1. 8

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to make fries.

  2. 9

    Soak the Fries

Soak the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.

  3. 10

    Fry the Potatoes

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat olive oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.

  4. 11

    Season the Fries

Remove fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. While still hot, toss with salt and drizzle with truffle oil. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
