Cornbread Ingredients

Method

Chili Directions

  1. 1

    Brown the Meat

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and bell pepper to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cornbread Directions

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 6

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 7

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter until combined.

  4. 8

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 9

    Bake the Cornbread

Pour the batter into a greased 8x8 inch baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
