Spicy Tahini Sauce
Method
Fritters
- 1
Prepare the chickpeas
Rinse and drain the canned chickpeas. Use a fork or potato masher to mash them in a large mixing bowl until mostly smooth but still a bit chunky.
- 2
Mix ingredients
Add the finely chopped red onion, chopped parsley, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, black pepper, and all-purpose flour to the mashed chickpeas. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Form fritters
Using your hands, shape the mixture into small patties, about 2 inches in diameter. Place them on a plate or baking sheet.
- 4
Heat oil
In a large skillet, heat enough olive oil over medium heat to cover the bottom of the skillet.
- 5
Fry fritters
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the fritters in the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Spicy Tahini Sauce
- 6
Combine ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, water, lemon juice, minced garlic, cayenne pepper, and salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more water if needed.
- 7
Serve
Serve the chickpea fritters warm with the spicy tahini sauce drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.
