Method
Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs with buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off excess flour.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add chicken pieces and fry for about 7-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
Waffle Preparation
- 5
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
- 6
- 7
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- 8
Cook the Waffles
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the appropriate amount of batter (usually about 1/2 cup) onto the center of the hot waffle iron and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
Assembly

Serve
Place a waffle on a plate, top with a piece of fried chicken, and drizzle with maple syrup. Enjoy your Chicken & Waffles!
