Burger Patty

Savory Sweet Chili Glaze

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Patty Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties that are about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Prepare the Sweet Chili Glaze

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Heat the Glaze

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 5

    Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  2. 6

    Add Glaze

Flip the patties and brush the top with a generous amount of the sweet chili glaze. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with the burger patty, additional sweet chili glaze, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and cilantro leaves. Finish with the top half of the bun.
