Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Frites

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and dry them with a clean towel. Fry them in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt.

Make the Maple Glaze

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and black pepper.

  2. 6

    Simmer the Glaze

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 7

    Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 8

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

  3. 9

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they reach your desired doneness.

  4. 10

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 11

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 12

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, fresh tomato slices, and the top bun.

Serve

  1. 13

    Plate the Dish

Serve the burger with a side of crispy frites and drizzle the maple glaze over the top of the burger.
