Method
Preparation
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a hard surface to soften them, then cut them in half. Use a citrus juicer or reamer to extract the juice from the lemons into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 to 1.5 cups of lemon juice.
- 2
Making the Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 3
Mixing the Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the sugar syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- 4
Taste and Adjust
Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar syrup if desired, or more water if it is too strong.
Serving
- 5
Chill and Serve
Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Serve in glasses over ice cubes, and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
