Method

Salsa Preparation

  1. 1

    Dice the Vegetables

Chop the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and garlic into small pieces. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño if you prefer a milder salsa.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and minced garlic.

  3. 3

    Add Seasoning

Chop the cilantro and add it to the bowl along with lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Adjust Flavor

Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning with more salt or lime juice as needed.

  5. 5

    Chill

Cover the salsa and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Tortilla Chips Preparation

  1. 6

    Cut Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangles or strips.

  2. 7

    Heat Oil

In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  3. 8

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla pieces to the hot oil in batches, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 9

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Immediately sprinkle with salt to taste.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Allow the chips to cool slightly before serving with the salsa.
