Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the steak. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the steak for about 6-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.

  2. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Toppings Preparation

  1. 5

    Chop the Fresh Ingredients

While the steak is resting, finely chop the fresh cilantro and dice the onion.

Guac Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Guac Sauce

In a bowl, mash the avocados with a fork. Add diced tomato, minced garlic, lime juice, and salt. Mix until combined and creamy.

Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Slice the rested steak against the grain. Serve it topped with fresh cilantro, diced onion, and a generous dollop of guac sauce.
