Prepare the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Once the butter is melted, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to create a roux, until it turns a light golden color.

Incorporate Milk
Gradually whisk in 4 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to whisk until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Cheeses
Reduce heat to low. Stir in 4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and 8 oz of cream cheese until melted and smooth. Season with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of paprika.
Combine and Bake

Mix Pasta and Sauce
Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until thoroughly combined.

Prepare Topping (Optional)
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 0.5 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well.
