Method

Biscuit Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter to the dry mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Pour in 3 tablespoons of milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat it out to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a glass.

  6. 6

    Bake Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

  1. 7

    Cook Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook 1 cup of country sausage until browned and fully cooked.

  2. 8

    Add Flour

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour over the sausage and stir to coat. Cook for an additional minute.

  3. 9

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps.

  4. 10

    Season the Gravy

Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 0.5 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  5. 11

    Thicken Gravy

Continue to cook until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency, stirring frequently for about 5-7 minutes.
